Shawn Bowker

Shawn Bowker is an esteemed member of the True North team, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to injury prevention and community health. With a BSN, RN, and certifications as a CEN, Shawn has spent nearly 27 years with Northern Arizona Healthcare (NAH), where she has made significant strides in promoting safety and well-being across northern Arizona. Shawn's outstanding contributions have been recognized with the Arizona Department of Health Services’ 2024 Injury Prevention Achievement Award.

As NAH’s Trauma Services injury prevention/outreach/research coordinator, she has led numerous initiatives in fall prevention, motor vehicle safety, domestic violence and child abuse prevention, ATV safety, bicycle safety, and the Stop the Bleed program.

Her commitment to community education and injury reduction is evident through her work in providing Bleeding Control Stations to all schools in the Flagstaff Unified School District and installing a harm reduction vending machine at the Flagstaff Emergency Department, stocked with free Naloxone kits and fentanyl testing strips. Shawn has also initiated fall prevention programs such as Tai Chi for Fall Prevention and A Matter of Balance, and she has collaborated with local organizations to educate high school students about the dangers of substance use and distracted driving.

At True North, Shawn will leverage her expertise as a Tai Chi instructor and Kung Fu black belt to offer classes that strengthen muscles, improve balance, and promote overall well-being. Her integrative approach aligns perfectly with True North's mission to provide holistic care and support to its members.
